Akwa Ibom State University – AKSU 2018 Matriculation Ceremony
Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) on Friday, the 23rd of March 2018, matriculated 2,035 students for the 2017/2018 academic session. The students were admitted into the Faculties of Engineering, Education, Natural/Applied Science, Arts, Agriculture and Social/Management Science.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eno J. Ibanga in his remarks, advised the new students to shun cultism and all such vices that could jeopardize their future. He reminded them that Akwa Ibom State University, in line with the policy of the state government, has a zero level of tolerance for any form of anti-social behaviour. Prof Ibanga urged the fresh AKSU students to concentrate on their studies and be good ambassadors of their families and the nation in order to contribute their own quota to the development of the country.

The vice-chancellor also cautioned the new intake against the negative influence of social media and urged them to exercise caution and learn to discriminate on the information they get from it. According to him, they should “be inspired by good work, a good name and the love of God”
Prof. Ibanga thanked the state government and stakeholders who have contributed towards the fast pace of development in the University and reassured all that the institution was poised to compete favourably with other institutions in the country and beyond.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor and Visitor to the university, Mr Udom G. Emmanuel, in his remarks appreciated the management and staff of the university for their diligence and hard work. He commended the University for keying into the vision of the state government in making the varsity, a world-class university. He solicited for the continuous support of all staff and unions to ensure the continuous growth of the institution.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, who was represented by the honourable Commissioner for Education – Prof. Victor Ini Inoka, further said that the Akwa Ibom State Government is ever-willing to partner with the University in ensuring that the it is repositioned to become the best university in Nigeria.
